We're a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club with a clear focus on quality coaching, technical development and outcome focused training. You will leave every class knowing:

- What our current training focus is
- How to gain skills in that area of focus
- Why we are training in a particular way

No stone is left unturned in your training with us.

No-Gi BJJ

Emphasis on movement, wrestling integration, lower body submissions, and transitional control. Sessions are fast-paced but structured, with a strong focus on clean technique and safe training practices.

Our club focuses on the full spectrum of submission grappling, with structured training that incorporates techniques from brazilian jiu-jitsu, judo, wrestling, and related grappling disciplines. We prioritise sound fundamentals, positional understanding, and technical consistency, helping students build skill progressively whether they're new to grappling or have previous grappling experience.

What We Offer

lwmjj-6.jpg
Gi BJJ

Focus on control, grips, balance, and technical detail. Training in the gi develops patience, precision, and strong defensive habits, forming a solid base for long-term grappling development.

Kids BJJ (Gi)

Introducing grappling in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Build fitness, discipline, and confidence, while ensuring high coaching standards and clear supervision at all times.

Meet the Coaches

At Low Mass Jiu Jitsu, our coaching is built around clear, technical instruction, hard but smart rounds, and a focus on long-term progress over quick wins.

We emphasise positional understanding, control, and a strong no-gi base, while keeping training welcoming for beginners and challenging for experienced grapplers.

FAQs

Do you offer trial classes?

Yes! We encourage all new students to come in for a trial session. It's the best way to experience our coaching style and see if the club is a good fit for you.

Can I join as a beginner with no experience?

Absolutely. Most of our members started with zero experience. Our classes are structured to accommodate all levels, with clear fundamental instruction for beginners.

What should I wear and bring to my first class?

For No-Gi, wear a fitted t-shirt or rashguard and athletic shorts. For Gi, you'll need a Jiu Jitsu uniform. Don't forget a water bottle and a gum shield!

What are your membership options?

We offer flexible plans including 2x a week and Unlimited training. We also have a special Beginners Programme: 3 months for the price of 2 to get you started.

How intense are the classes?

Training is a workout, but you go at your own pace. We focus on technical development first. Sparring is optional and always conducted with safety as the priority.

Is Jiu Jitsu safe? What about injuries?

Safety is our #1 rule. We emphasize controlled movements and 'tapping' early. Our coaches ensure a respectful environment where everyone looks out for their training partners.

Can I cancel or pause my membership?

Yes, we handle memberships via direct debit. If you need to pause for injury or travel, or wish to cancel, just give us a shout—we aim to be as helpful and flexible as possible.
